Our Community

The people who gather here in prayer seek to live lives of love and hope amidst all kinds of circumstances. We boldly claim the congregational mission of sustaining and encouraging persons and families in their faith and wider life.

We ask God’s graces in furthering his mission among us to restore, sustain and encourage. We are richly blessed with people and their many gifts, with history, hope, and awareness of God’s presence for us now.

FAMILY EDUCATION

Sunday school for children is normally held the entire year, but has been cancelled during this pandemic. A creative parent, child, and Spirit-led ministry, seeking to shape faith in children and youth. The Sunday school room opens at 9:30 am on Sundays. Curriculum is a Church-Year and Scripture based, “Weaving God’s Promises.” Sunday school includes crafts, seasonal pageants, and an experience the children talk about!!

Seasonal Offerings and Presentations on Scripture, Life Issues and Faith, and spiritual practices, and baptismal preparation are available here on this website on the Adult Education Online Videos page.

Seasonal Activities during normal times are: Advent-Wreath Making, Lenten Way of the Cross, Parish Picnic, Blessing of the Animals and more.

SERVING OUR COMMUNITY

We take regular collections for Aberdeen Food Bank and Grays Harbor Clothing Bank here at the church.

We are a Host Church for Family Promise of Grays Harbor – A Community Response to Homelessness. You can learn more about this organization by visiting their website.

Like everyone else Family Promise of Grays Harbor has been affected by the COVID-19 virus. We have not hosted a family since March. Starting September 10th we will be hosting a new family. They will be staying at the Day Center. For everyone’s safety’s sake we will not be rotating to different churches and we will be hosting only one family at a time. Our many volunteers can still participate by bringing meals and/or spending the night. Again, to lessen contact, meals will be brought to the door. You will not eat with the families. Those spending the night will have separate rooms to sleep in. If you can help, please contact our new Case Manager, Darci Jewitt, at 360-986-3948 or at fpghcasemanager@gmail.com. Your support in the past has been extraordinary. We hope you will continue to help these families in need. God bless you.

Friend and Fundraisers: Is a program where St. Andrew’s invites friends and neighbors in celebration to help raise money for our congregation’s mission, and share a tithe of the proceeds with a local charity.

PASTORAL CARE

During normal times we offer pastoral care through sacramental or pastoral visits from our priest or trained Eucharistic visitors. If you would like to use this service, please call the church directly at (360) 533-2511 to set something up. We are very happy to attend to your request. If you anticipate an extended absence from worship, or a stay in the hospital, and desire a pastoral visit, please communicate this by calling the church with information regarding your situation.

A WARM PLACE

For those that are seeking a warm place to gather… don’t forget that the Union Gospel Mission and Revival Grays Harbor both provide a day room.

FAMILY PROMISE

To all you wondering about the status of Family Promise, here is an update. Since the beginning of the pandemic we have been closed to families. We have been able to keep our director working and have actually hired a new case manager. They are now in the process of formulating plans that will allow us to safely start our program. There is still a great deal of uncertainty.  As many of you might have already assumed, there is no way that we can resume our traditional rotational program during the middle of a pandemic. It simply is too risky.

When we do reopen, expect our model to be different; but also please expect that no congregation or individuals will be asked to participate unless they are comfortable doing so, and are willing to follow the health and safety guidelines that will be in place.  We will probably begin with one family hosted at the day center. That date has yet to be determined.

Thanks to all who concerned about this important ministry.      Phil
